Is it possible this administration is afraid to bring the troops home?

There's been so much confusion about the number of troops and where they would be sent. First they were going to another part of Syria. Then they were "on hold," observing that Turkey would not violate the ceasefire. They they were pulled out and now transferred to Iraq. As for numbers, I've heard 29, 50, 1000 and 2000.

By sending them now to Iraq Trump doesn't even get that Photo Op/consolation prize of bringing the troops home.

Why doesn't he bring them home?

It suddenly hit me: Every journalist in the country is going to want to ask our troops what they saw, what they think about what just happened? If they were allowed to speak, it would be a disaster for this administration. They are likely demoralized almost beyond belief and would speak (at least off the record) about their true feelings about what has happened. When the troops speak, IMO, it is heartbreaking and makes everything a hundred times worse.

Am I off base, or are some of you thinking the same thing? As a cynical PR move, let's NOT let the troops come home and instead shuttle them off to Iraq and keep them busy for now so they "get over" the catastrophe they just experienced and won't talk to the media and hopefully everybody will "forget about the whole thing."

I sort of hope I'm wrong and someone corrects me and it turns out that this move is too cynical even for Trump, but this was actually his opportunity to bring some troops home and he's sending them off to "fight ISIS" which sounds suspicious as hell to me, since mostly we hear that ISIS is in Syria. Is he further punishing our troops to keep them conveniently out of America media's reach? Or is there some actual value in their new mission in Iraq?

Its highly unlikely active duty special forces would go around giving interviews about what they did or saw.

troops fighting killers. Most missions are easily classified to keep the military from being interviewed. Especially from the trump regime .
