Secretary Clinton has put both the Russians and the press on notice. She did it early, she did it in way that takes the heat off the Democrats who are running and thus understandably reluctant to voice possible concerns about Russian machinations, and she did it obliquely, without naming a name.
A New York Times story that raised questions about Tulsi last week got little to no traction. The same can be said of an NBC News Report last February, a followup piece in The Independent, and all the speculation concerning the Russian bot activity following Tulsi's dissembling attack on Senator Harris.
Thanks to Secretary Clinton, any possibility that Tulsi (who just 10 days ago was accusing the DNC of rigging debates) will launch a third party campaign has been seriously diminished. Hopefully, any candidate who does so will now draw increased scrutiny concerning the possibility of Russian interference and sabotage.
Secretary Clinton learned the lessons of 2016 well, even if the press and pundits haven't. She's doing everything she can to make sure that the Democrats win the White House in 2020, even if it invites the ridicule of the Jake Tappers and Chuck Todds of the world.
After all, it was they who missed the biggest story of a generation last time around.
And it was Hillary Clinton who didn't.
Thanks Hillary.

Maybe that one.

(16,160 posts)Because she's an easy punching bag. Like an archetype of "Mom." Like a teenager, you can diss "Mom," knowing she won't abandon you. You can score easy woke points and look cool in front your friends by calling her uncool, old, a leftover from the 90s, a neoliberal, a war monger, a corporate whore and God knows how many other things I've heard people who still don't understand the consequences (because privilege) say about her.

Now that it comes out that Tulsi said she's staying in the race until the convention, she needs to be thoroughly discredited, before she convinces enough gullibles that our nominee is a warmonger like last time.

(18,486 posts)Then there is 4chan, the notoriously toxic online message board, where some right-wing trolls and anti-Semites fawn over Ms. Gabbard, calling her Mommy and praising her willingness to criticize Israel. In April, the Daily Stormer, a neo-Nazi website, took credit for Ms. Gabbards qualification for the first two Democratic primary debates.
Brian Levin, the head of the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at California State University-San Bernardino, said Ms. Gabbard had the seal of approval within white nationalist circles. If people have that isolationist worldview, there is one candidate that could best express them on each side: Gabbard on the Democratic side and Trump on the Republican side, Mr. Levin said.
....
But its also an argument that reminds some Democrats of the narrative pushed by Russian actors during the 2016 presidential contest, when an operation by internet trolls worked to manipulate American public opinion: that the electoral system is broken and cannot be trusted.
...
Still, Democrats are on high alert about foreign interference in the next election and the D.N.C. is well aware of the frequent mentions of Ms. Gabbard in the Russian state news media. An independent analysis of the Russian news media found that RT, the Kremlin-backed news agency, mentioned Ms. Gabbard frequently for a candidate polling in single digits, according to data collected by the Alliance for Securing Democracy, a group that seeks to track and expose efforts by authoritarian regimes to undermine democratic elections.
Disinformation experts have also pointed to instances of suspicious activity surrounding Ms. Gabbards campaign in particular, a Twitter hashtag, #KamalaHarrisDestroyed, that trended among Ms. Gabbards supporters after the first Democratic debate, and appeared to be amplified by a coordinated network of bot-like accounts but there is no evidence of coordination between these networks and the campaign itself.

(18,356 posts)Experts who track websites and social media linked to Russia have seen stirrings of a possible campaign of support for Hawaii Democrat Tulsi Gabbard
The Russian propaganda machine that tried to influence the 2016 U.S. election is now promoting the presidential aspirations of a controversial Hawaii Democrat who earlier this month declared her intention to run for president in 2020.
An NBC News analysis of the main English-language news sites employed by Russia in its 2016 election meddling shows Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii, who is set to make her formal announcement Saturday, has become a favorite of the sites Moscow used when it interfered in 2016.
Several experts who track websites and social media linked to the Kremlin have also seen what they believe may be the first stirrings of an upcoming Russian campaign of support for Gabbard.
Since Gabbard announced her intention to run on Jan. 11, there have been at least 20 Gabbard stories on three major Moscow-based English-language websites affiliated with or supportive of the Russian government: RT, the Russian-owned TV outlet; Sputnik News, a radio outlet; and Russia Insider, a blog that experts say closely follows the Kremlin line. The CIA has called RT and Sputnik part of "Russia's state-run propaganda machine."

It seems a lot of people don't want Democrats informed about the new Russian interference in the 2020 election. Very odd here on Democratic Underground where many who left and some who stayed supported the Russian hacking and Russian assets who helped bring us tRump.
It's all there in the DU archives and the archives at archive.org.

(9,426 posts)tRump knows she won the election, and he has never recovered from that defeat. He resents a woman who is smarter, wiser and DEFINITELY qualified for the "job" he is royally screwing up. Putin got what he wanted. Now with lots of help from the gop traitors, he is dragging the USA down into the sewer. Hillary has been maligned by the gop for years and years. She still shows how much she cares about this country. Unlike the orange ass in the WH. All he sees is a cash register, funneling taxpayer money into his pockets. His "kids" have never worked a day in their useless lives.

(18,356 posts)Here's what Tulsi had to say at the debate on October 16, well before the interview with Secretary Clinton:
"Just two days ago the New York Times put out an article saying that I'm a Russian asset and an Assad apologist and all these different smears,' she said during the fourth debate in Westerville, Ohio Tuesday.
'This morning a CNN commentator said on national television that I'm an asset of Russia.
snip===================================================================
This weekend it asked 'What, Exactly, Is Tulsi Gabbard Up To?' and pointed out that some Democrats are concerned about apparent signs of Russian support for her along the lines of the bot and social media activity which the Mueller report identified as having been given by the Kremlin to Trump.
On Tuesday morning, CNN political commentator Bakari Sellers had said: 'There is no question, there is no question that Tulsi Gabbard, of all the 12, is a puppet for the Russian government.'

(12,448 posts)if we had this woman as president, I start crying. She would have been so good. We could have had someone who understood what was going on in the world, who was respected by world leaders who actually count, who could have spoken to the American people in words that could be understood. A woman who is smart, savvy, at times funny, who is articulate, incisive, courageous.
Where could we be as a country had she been in the White House?
