(625 posts)THAT RIGHT THERE.
SPEAK UP AGAINST RACIAL INJUSTICE IN ALL FORMS.
Even if it costs you. THAT is what it's going to take.
God bless you, maam.

(4,079 posts)about one night when she was home alone, and she let her dog out into the backyard. Lights were on, she was watching a movie, and "anyone could have seen that someone was home." A little later when her dog began to bark furiously, she went into the kitchen where her back door was open, storm door closed. She saw a couple of flashlights, and called out "Who's there?" The reply was, "It's the police."
She went on to talk about how inappropriate it was that the cops hadn't knocked on her front door, and hadn't announced themselves until she called out to them. Then she said that because she is a white woman in a middle class neighborhood, her biggest fear that night was "What if they shot my dog?" But if she had been Tay Jefferson, her biggest fear would have been, "What if they shot ME?"
She said "I'm alive, and Tay is not, and that is white privilege."
I may have gotten some of the order wrong, but that's basically the story.

(1,639 posts). . .Is that she framed part of her argument in a way that conservative "personal property rights/anti-big government" folks could grasp.
The police were stalking around on her property without announcing themselves or requesting entrance.
