(6,831 posts)He chose to remain silent, believing that he owed us something. I think that very soon, however, the gloves WILL drop and the General will let it all fly.

(6,831 posts)and didn't observe Mattis to quit over his total disagreement with trump's withdrawal of US troops assisting the Kurds, there is NO BASIS in reality for that statement.
Jim Mattis is probably THE most respected Marine in the country today.
UTUSN
(70,744 posts)for him to think that was a sign of limited/poor judgment. And whatever his specific breaking point was, whether on a single issue like the Kurds or because he realized he would soon be humiliated and discarded by SHITLER like everybody else, he has limitations shown by conflict with the OBAMA team and his unwillingness to talk about SHITLER (with this brief exception here).
Basically, anybody willing to be a TRUMPSTER has something wrong.

(6,254 posts)just being good soldiers and following orders same can be said for Mattis. When the time for real courage came he quit. Thats cowardice.

(226 posts)The words you could have said were: "You are under arrest." The moments gone tho....

(6,110 posts)we must keep middle-east under control from chaos and that needs military people fighting there.
Better to fight ISIS in Syria than in Nevada.

(115,869 posts)But Syria was probably the last straw, not Trump's juvenile tweets.

(19,568 posts)If not I honestly don't give a damn about male dick measuring bullshit.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,869 posts)Enough of this respect for the commander-in-chief bullshit. He resigned when Trump first tried to pull troops from Syria but now it's actually been done and it's a disaster. I'm happy to see Mattis give a hint about what he really thinks but I really wish he'd tell what he actually knows.

(19,568 posts)He needs to be a real patriot and tell all he knows.
Being triggered by a slur and slinging one back isn't my concept of an American patriot. I'm not disrespecting Mattis, but rather asking him earn my respect on this issue. Snark isn't going to get me far here, and leaving for moral reasons unless you honestly tell all you know at this point isn't helpful.
Literally, people are dying and we've lost all respect as international allies. This is when a military patriot who has things to say should step up and talk.

(11,523 posts)Absolutely, a cute little tweet poking fun at tRump makes for good conversation. But to ensure that tRump is removed from the White House Mattis, and anyone else who "knows thing" needs to come forward.

(19,568 posts)I apologize.
Waking up to the news our American patriot Rep. Elijah Cummings had past away, and then learning he'd still been fighting for our democracy from his hospice bed probably has raised my bar on patriotism.
I see more clearly the difference between walking the walk vs. just talking the talk in these dark days.

(6,699 posts)Is this the general that goes on the networks but plays the innocent general who won't comment on political shit?
I could have my wires croseed...as I often do...but I watched some coward piece of shit on the networks who refuses to comment on or answer questions he deems "political".
Is this the same guy referred to as the "Butcher of Fallujah"? Again, I could have my wires crossed.
I've got a thing about praising someone for who they were 30 years ago, once they turn into a piece of shit today. Mr 9/11 mayor comes to mind...among several others.
