What a shit location for dignitaries to spend extended time at. Most are chintzy, fake bullshit populated by some of the dumbest people I've ever shaken men head at. The rest of the G7 should say, "nah, no thanks".

But a former business associate told the Daily News that despite being a self-described clean hands freak and germaphobe, Trump has always been far more focused on creating an image for his properties than in spending what it takes to make them excellent.

(22,048 posts)I concur with your view hat many country clubs are chintzy and full of fake BS.
On the other hand, I've played in golf tournaments at private clubs and the courses were among the most demanding and difficult I've encountered. I recently played Engineers' Country Club in Roslyn, NY and they have the most exasperating greens I've ever played! They were beautifully and dramatically contoured with a very tightly mown fast surface; our group saw more 3 and 4 putts than any of us were used to.
Classic clubhouses are often beautiful and historic. Too often, modern buildings are crap.
In the past, before Trump announced his candidacy, I played at three of Trump's courses in the New York City area. Each of them was ridiculously over-priced, the clubhouses & locker rooms were ostentatious nonsense and the courses were gimmicky with silly things like hidden collection areas, many multiples of mounds of grass lining the fairways and blind shots that make the course unnecessarily more difficult. Worst of all, none of the pro shops had yardage guides for sale so one had to go out and play "blind" or use one's cellphone for a satellite photo of the course. These are stupid and useless policies for a course.
Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Specifically handicapping, accounting, inventory and POS systems. Engineers' was a client. Yes the newer facilities are crap. My favorite old building is Detroit Golf Club. You need a map to navigate it and it has a kinda creepy vibe to it. ...horror movie creepy not creeper creepy.

(16,855 posts)I would choose either New England or the west coast. It's way too hot and muggy in the South by that time. Take them to Cape Cod or maybe some place around San Francisco.

They're gold bamboo with white seat cushions. The tables are standard banquet hall folding ones with really low-grade washed a hundred times table cloths.
