Hell yes, I'm better off than I was four years ago!

At that time, my patient load was off thirty percent, my gross income to the dental practice was down forty percent, my net was negative and I'm only now, climbing out of the mess which drove me to near-bankruptcy. I practice in a large urban medical/dental building which used to have a total of 140 different doctors. We are now down to about sixty and several are in the process of divesting themselves of their offices and practices, because they got in way too far over Their collective heads. The President has, with virtually ZERO assistance from the Congress, presided over a significant recovery as far as I'm concerned. FYI, one of the leading indicators of economic upturn or downturn in an index of gross income of urban and suburban general dental practices. Trust me, it is significant: I've been able to predict the last six events unerringly WAY before the idiots on CNN or worse, CNBC.

While watching the announcement of Palin that summer, I was facing a catastrophe, and thought ruefully to myself that she might be the VP presiding over my professional AND personal downfall. How ironic, right? This know-nothing grifter from Wasilla ascends to great heights while the rest of us are destroyed. Well, it was not to be, and it will only take me another year and a half to fully extricate myself from the mess.

I don't need to be reminded of Bush,Jr. for one instant: every huge automatic payment which clears my account to pay off past debts is reminder enough.

there are those among us who are much worse off. I think the country is definitely better off and don't even want to think what will happen if the heartless panderer to the 1% is elected because of people feeling let down by Obama staying home. I hope everyone voting for Obama will show up to the polls and vote straight Democratic ticket. We need his jobs bill. We need to see what he can do with a TRUE majority in Congress. I want to see everyone better off 4 years from now!

McCain's initial response to the Economy crash was to suspend his campaign. Had he won, what would he do -- suspend his presidency?

No doubt he would have pulled from the same old GOP bag of tricks: Cut taxes for the rich and eliminate regulations... the same tricks that caused the Crash.

Plus, with McCain being McCain, we'd now be paying for his boots-on-the-ground adventures in Iran, Egypt, Libya, and Syria. Plus, he would have double-downed in Iraq.

Thank God Obama won!

Does no one remember the layoffs in 2008 under Bush?

I was laid off in Dec. 2009 for 10 months when my grant failed to be re-funded. In 2008, when all the big layoffs were happening, during the campaign and right up through Obama's inauguration and initial part of his presidency, I could see the writing on the wall.

that Obama broke "promises" he made in 2008. Could it be due to the fact that the rethugs in Congress failed to honor THEIR oath - their promise - to

"support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will WELL AND FAITHFULLY DISCHARGE THE DUTIES OF THE OFFICE ON WHICH I AM ABOUT TO ENTER."

When McConnell says his primary goal is to take down the Pres ... is that treasonous?

In the fall of 2008 one sister lost her job, one nephew was fighting the VA for treatment for his PTSD and 2 nieces were out of work. Now that nephew is working for the VA as a counselor and all nieces are gainfully employed. My CREF portfolio has rebounded and my retirement income increase 2 years in a row.

I know there are people still hurting but those looking for jobs today have a much better chance of landing one than they did 3 or 4 years ago. The country is better off. The eonomy is growing rather than collapsing. Do we need faster growth? Yes. But the few economic policies Republicans spell out would erode the progress we've made thus far.
