Shepherd, I dont know what the heck you are planning to do or where you will go but I just know you will be great at doing it and you deserve the best that life has to offer, Cavuto said emotionally. Im sorry if Im a little shell-shocked here but Im going to miss my buddy.
Cavutos first guest on the show, chief White House correspondent John Roberts, also expressed bafflement, saying he felt like he got hit by a subway train.
The exact reason for Smiths ouster is unclear, but Attorney General William Barr met with Fox Corporation CEO Rupert Murdoch Wednesday night as President Donald Trump has been ramping up his criticism of the network.

(5,542 posts)That is a happy looking guy talking about leaving a great work place that he respects.
And he is doing it on a same day's notice. Since when does that happen?
The only explanation is that they gave him a big enough of a parting gift payout that it simply put a shit eating grin on his face.

(22,990 posts)There could be all kinds of shit going down in the background, and they can retain some composure.
But he sure is acting like his parting gift is is more than adequate, yes.
Edit: can't rule out the on-screen reactions of Roberts and the other guy weren't put-ons.

(13,579 posts)It's what Fox does when they want to get rid of you.
But nuts, it means he'll probably be off the air for about 2 years. MSNBC could sure use him.

(13,579 posts)This is the age Fox News employees start getting pressured to "take the buy-out" and you get to keep your health insurance for you and your partner. There is a no-compete proviso in accepting the buy-out check.
(I can't say how, but I know this for a fact.)

I thought it was rather strange, as if he knew something was going on?
Perhaps Barr did speak to Murdoch about him?
