It will rankle the hell out of Trump to know he's officially being subjected to an impeachment inquiry, and will force him to come up with some other bullshit reason as to why they're instructing witnesses not to comply--which you know they will.

We have the votes, so there's little to no downside to doing this.

Everything the democrats did before the vote was nothing more than a rogue investigation! All evidence is tainted!

In the end their argument will have no legal ground but it will slow the public's opinion from shifting further in it's support of impeachment.

The whole argument about there not being a vote on an impeachment inquiry is just more repug stonewalling. If the Dems take a vote, which will pass easily and the repugs know it, they'll come up with another reason to stonewall and ignore subpoenas—like they took the vote in morning instead of the afternoon so it's not valid and therefore we'll keep on stonewalling.

The Dems should hold a vote on Articles of Impeachment as there is way more than enough evidence of impeachable conduct by trump. That'll shut the trumpers up.

Plays into Trump's narrative and shows that Dems will take orders from the White House on what to do.

Unless they very narrowly tailor it and make sure the language preserves their prerogatives in the future, it would set a terrible precedent and play right into Trump's hands.

Take his ass to court, and then if you get a Trump toady judge that says "well, why don't you vote on it?!" ask the judge, well, if we take a full House vote to authorize an impeachment inquiry, will you demand that Trump and his administration officials adhere to our subpoena requests?

There's absolutely no benefit in taking a full House vote on this now. Trump will continue to defy subpoenas and it will be one less negotiation tactic we can use once this issue is taken to the court.
