So I'm thinking it's better to conduct a thorough inquiry even if takes longer than I'd originally hoped. We're overdue for a downturn.
Better that it occur once again on a Republican watch than dropped in the Dem's lap because Pelosi became president. We'd be awash in right wing spin about where the fault resides. The next downturn could be a doozy since it's being pushed down the road with cheap money engineered by the Federal Reserve.
Maybe this is the only upside if Trump isn't removed by the Senate trial after impeachment.

(36,906 posts)Pay attention to Trump when he says the economy is going down the drain if he is not reelected.
That is how Trump plans to leave our country.

(46,166 posts)The downturn is inevitable but also should be sooner than later. if he's installed again in 2020 then the Republicans can't escape the blame. Unless the Dems take both Houses of Congress. In that case the blaming fingers will all be pointed at us. Trump will assert that he didn't get enough cooperation to ward it off.
What a frickin' mess.

(9,674 posts)There's a reason they're trying to prolong what we currently have with cheap money. It's a band-aid fix for an increasingly unhealthy, soon to become sick, patient who's insurance likely runs out at the end of 2020.
The budgetary peepless cons are shooting the moon with tax cuts, gutting of regulations and out-of-control spending favoring their own corporate interests, just waiting for the day, under democratic control, when they can again pick up their anti-deficit bugles and start blasting about budget cuts to programs real people need everyday.
And as always, blame any downturn on the democrats.
