why did your pResident betray our allies, the Kurds, knowing he was signing their death warrants?
Hes told you its because he wanted to bring our boys and girls home from Syria.
Now ask yourselves why a man who is facing impeachment and the mounting evidence against him, and is losing in the polls against Democratic contenders, would do something he knew would outrage his own supporters but would benefit Vladimir Putin.
Are you still buying the bring the troops home thing? Do you really think your pResident would jeopardize his re-election by outraging his base because he suddenly decided that pulling our troops out of Syria was something that had to be done immediately? Do you think the fact that such an action is Putins wet-dream is just an amazing coincidence, and had no bearing on Trumps decision?
Are you really that stupid? Well, your pResident hopes so in fact, your continuing stupidity is what hes been counting on all along.

(3,503 posts)Im in a mixed Facebook political group. Which, of course, means fifty right wingers and two lefties. The liberals all bailed because theres no talking to these people. And none of the Republicans are upset at all by this. Theyre all taking the stance that he does. Republicans just dont care, theyre hard core Тяцмр cultists. Everything from Russia to the Saudis to Ukraine to this latest debacle are looked at through the Fox/Limbaugh prism. Hes done nothing wrong, hasnt lied about anything and is just fulfilling his promises. Anything from straight news sources is biased or fake. Its Hillary and Biden who are corrupt and the media just wont report on it because they hate Тяцмр.
And that goes for all of my family and friends who support the asshole too.
I dont know who youre talking about when you say people in his base are outraged, they arent. Any elected Republican who has said anything at all about it is a RINO or traitor who needs to be primaried.
These people are dedicated to Тяцмр heart and soul. Maybe somewhere out there is a Republican with a conscience but I dont see any.

(27,818 posts)... most Trump supporters don't post on political websites at all, and only a certain type of Trump-humper does so in order to defend their messiah?
That's why trying to determine what Trump's 'base' is thinking about anything by what you see on discussion boards is poor science.
Besides, the usual kiss-ass Trump supporters in his own party (e.g. Lindsay Graham) are being quite outspoken about their outrage - which means their devoted constituents will follow their lead.
I have a sister living in SC. She's a Republican, a Trump supporter, and thinks the sun shines out of Lindsey's ass. If Lindsey is outraged, my sister is outraged. She'll go where led.

(3,503 posts)I dont know most of these people in real life so thats how I take the temperature. Theyre from all points of the country and they walk in total lockstep. Id put my money on these people following him than any senator or rep who goes against him.
But, again, there must be some out there. I hope so anyway.

(27,818 posts)What it has to do with is the fact that there are certain types of people who discuss politics on websites, and they are not necessarily reflective of the majority of their fellow voters, nor of those voters' current leanings or opinions.
Don't forget that Trump is "new" to many Republican voters, while people like Graham and Romney have been around for ages, and are seen by many Republican voters as the wise elders in their party - and they trust their judgment.

(3,503 posts)We need sensible Republicans to see the light but they never seem to. Ill be interested in seeing the polls reflecting this latest debacle. His support within the party hovers around 90%. I dont see it dropping more than a few points at best. I dont mean to be a contrarian, things may have been the way you say in earlier, traditional political times. But after all thats gone on and him still retaining that kind of support, I dont think its that way anymore.
And remember, Lindsay is still out there defending him at every turn otherwise. This one disagreement, which really isnt as strong as it could or should be, probably isnt a game changer.

Even Fox News is speaking out against Trump.

(5,995 posts)This is particularly true with the brand of crazy currently residing in the WH.
He is strictly transactional, it's always "what's in it for me?"
