The Tech War begins, according to China

US-China tech war
The US and China are competing for supremacy in the suite of advanced technologies that will affect the means of future economic production. US efforts to curtail China's access to American technology are threatening to unravel decades of globalization and interdependent supply chains and raising the risk of a confrontation that has been likened to a new cold war.

Rare earth elements.

If they shutoff export of them, high tech firms will have to move to China to maintain access to them.

Checkmate.

They don't have a bloviating, manipulative idiot at the helm who has no respect for science and research at all because he knows better, or whatever.

At a time when the accelerating pace of technological advancement and deployment is the real name of the game for survival and ascendancy in the future, our poorly educated super-dunce is retarding and inhibiting our capacity to compete at the pace that will be necessary.

From what I have seen, take Germany for instance, there is a trend towards a more sophisticated infrastructure that could have widespread ramifications and determine what countries will thrive and succeed in many ways. For instance, we still have very inefficient systems where energy is wasted to the tune of 80% waste for 20% of work/product. Digital technologies can help to reverse that and create a much better ratio, and that's just one example. So, obviously, this has to do with our environmental impact, as well as savings and even superiority in the marketplace. These innovations are necessary for obvious reasons.

Right now, the Orange Ogre is having so many negative impacts both here and abroad that it will be a wonder if we can keep up after he is deposed, let alone excel. This is about cutting-edge, fast-paced and inter-related technologies and it is vital. If anything, our government should be increasing funding for R&D as if it were for a war effort. The speed will increase and could even, eventually become exponential as far as innovation and development are concerned.

In a way, not only is Russia benefiting, but China is also getting a bonus gift from Trump.
