AOC is raising money for Markey. Joe Crowley is raising money for Kennedy

(11,257 posts)Markey got behind the Green New Deal early on and was the lead sponsor in the Senate, which largely accounts for he position.
I personally like that AOC understands the benefit of building coalitions and isn't reflexively trying to push people with experience out. That's something Bernie has never figured out.

(710 posts)Chose to make this a devise way to fund raise. Dividing "the establishment" from progressives. It turns me off and leads me to donate opposite of the devise message.

(13,154 posts)Joe Kennedy should wait and see if Warren's seat opens up.

(710 posts)I think she sees that as a good way to fund raise. It's divisive. THEM not US the establishment...

(11,936 posts)And I like Joe Kennedy in general but this just feels wrong to me. I imagine he wants to get at least one term in as a Senator so that he can run for President in 2028. But thats not the path I'd like to see him take.

(13,154 posts)Kennedy brings pretty much nothing but his name to the table. Markey has been a solid progressive voice for decades.

(15,265 posts)Were i still in my long time former home state of MA, Markey would be getting my vote and it wuld be cast with no offense meant to Joe Kennedy.

(83,898 posts)I don't see her asking to split donations with him. I give donations straight to the candidate, not to anyone that endorses them.
I will be voting for Markey as I did the last time around, just as I did for Joe Kennedy running as my congressman.
I truly hope that AOC and Crowley don't make this a spitting contest. I also do not wish to see my Congressman or my Senator smeared. I will be upset if that happens. Though it looks like already has from the tweet in the OP.

Signed "Team AOC"
How Shane can call Crowley "establishment" and "old guard" to smear my Congressman, is beyond me. Both Crowley and Markey have been in government for over 4 decades.
Please just let the candidates do their jobs and run their campaigns in their own State. Let's not make this the Red Sox vs the Yankees.
Thank you.

If anyone "gives" Markey $3, $1.50 goes to her. I've only seen one other politician do that.

People like to primary incumbents, until they don't like it.
