Former Trump Org Exec Says Trump Would Resign If Faced With Impeachment

https://www.cnn.com/2019/10/06/media/reliable-sources-former-employee-trump-impeachment/index.html

A former Trump Organization executive says she thinks President Donald Trump may resign rather than face possible removal from office by impeachment.

"He does a lot of things to save face," Barbara Res, a former Trump Organization vice president, told CNN's Brian Stelter on Reliable Sources Sunday.
"It would be very, very, very bad for him to be impeached," Res said. "I don't know that he'll be found guilty but I don't know that he wants to be impeached. I think that's what this panic is about. And my gut [instinct] is that he'll leave office, he'll resign. Or make some kind of a deal, even, depending on what comes out."

I find it hard to believe Trump would resign, but I keep getting surprised by his actions...

But, sadly, I can't see him getting convicted.

He will be impeached, but it is a long shot that he would be removed.

he could somehow convince himself that resigning was winning in some way - maybe if he thought he could remake himself as the heroic leader of a revolution. "I sacrificed my presidency and resigned because I saw that I could only defeat the deep state from the outside" or something like that.

Impeachment would air out ALL of his dirty laundry. We all know how protective he is of his financial dealings. Who knows what else they would find.

With that looming over his head, he might just bow out.

One can dream

On edit: Pelosi did say they are sticking to one issue, though. Who knows where this is going.

You are far more optimistic than myself. So long as he holds Justice and the 5-4 (not to mention virtually all the lower Courts now) I don't see how much can get out.

That would piss off many, many people but if it would get the crazy, evil asshole out of office, then it might be worth it, even if he doesn't end up doing jail time. He could walk away claiming victimhood and still conduct rallies to ever smaller crowds. Not justice or ideal but good grief wouldn't it be nice to have this nightmare over with?

I agree with her. I base this upon a close examination of his history of cowardice in a serious confrontation. Obviously, this does not include fist fights. But in social conflicts -- specifically court battles -- he puts his tail between his legs when anyone stands up to him. He is only "brave" in situations against weaker opposition, and when someone else is doing his fighting for him. The guy is a cowardly pup, Friend Berni. He will quit. (Probably to spend more time with Ivanka.)

If resigning is his best way to save face that is what he will do. What he needs is a way to spin it and I am sure there are plenty of R’s who would gladly help him with that.

Notice Russia and Saudi Arabia are included among the many countries Trump likes to call shithole countries.

Trumps all must be rendered penniless and powerless. Passports pulled, restricted from public life and doing business. Indicted, hopefully.

Otherwise he will stoke a cult rebellion seeking the revenge that is his reason for existence. And he will get that backing.
