...either by their own party OR by folks who want to try and settle old grievances.

RIGHT NOW WE NEED TO GET RID OF TRUMP AND HIS CABAL OF GRIFTERS.
We need anyone and everyone who has any standing to call Trump out.

I'm happy to let history deal with Powell, Cheney, Bush and the rest of that OLD cabal. Nothing we say today is going to change the past.

I would love to be able to call out Kennedy, Nixon, LBJ, Westmoreland, McNamara, and others who got us into Vietnam. Starting with the lie of the attack on a Naval vessel in the Gulf of Tonkin. BUT my anger would not remove one name from the Vietnam Wall. Including my high school classmates who were KIA in South Vietnam.

Trump is the enemy now. He is the one that insults the memory of all who have served and died in defense of our country and it's Constitution.

1. Trump is impeached.

2. Pence steps up.

3. Powers that be (Ronna Romney McDaniels, anyone?) prevail upon him to appoint Mitt as VP.

4. Pence is impeached.

5. Mitt runs in 2020 as an incumbent, hailed by the MSM as a moral man of the middle. We’d be lucky in that instance not to have Nikki Haley as VP.

Such are my nightmares.

No, we're not the Moscow Mitch-like Gatekeepers. Pelosi would naturally see to it that any absolute wingnut Trump-humping nominee...Steve King. Jim Jordan, Matt Gaetz... but a non-insane nominee put up by Pence would go trough.

30. Nope
Sun Oct 6, 2019, 02:57 PM
Oct 2019

Taking a page straight from Mitch... the elections are just 12 months (likely much less by the time this happens) away... so there are NO duties for the VP (other than to break ties in the Senate - which isn't likely right now), so Pelosi fulfills the only other duty of the VP (that of succeeding the President should he or she not be able to serve for any reason).

Pretty sure the Democrats will slow walk any appointment to the point of it expiring due to not being needed.

none.

So why play into the GOPs hands on it?

And it won't be a year of delay... maybe at most 6 months. Donny isn't going anywhere until there is an impeachment in the House... and even then he may still rely on Mitch killing the Senate trial.

So, in the words of Dear Leader... this is a moat point. Filled with snakes.

And, of course, the topic was mostly about climate change. But included in the interview was that Gore thinks Trump is a criminal who deserves impeachment. Bill Clinton, as an ex President probably feels constrained but Hillary is speaking out forcefully.

Ex Presidents are very careful about saying anything about current Presidents. But if you listen you can hear they’re all speaking out.
