Andrew Yang trying to 'peel off' Trump supporters, woo them to 'Yang gang'

NASHUA, N.H. — Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang claims that he's drawing new support from an unlikely base: Donald Trump supporters.

Yang, whose hallmark campaign promise is to hand out $1,000 a month to every American, said at several New Hampshire campaign stops that he's "peeling off" disaffected Trump voters by the tens of thousands. However, New Hampshire Republicans were quick to refute that.

"Just like his math and his policies," N.H. GOP communications director Joe Sweeny said, "that's a big joke."

But the candidate who emerged from obscurity last year is piquing the interest of at least a handful of Trump supporters who have shown up at his New Hampshire events in recent weeks.

You can say what you will about guaranteed income but it's no dumber than the belief that cutting taxes creates more revenue.

In fact I was just talking to my mom about it today. (Mom's in NH canvassing for Warren & was asking about west coast activity.)

My dearest co-worker is a never-Trump republican evangelical with some definitely non-republican leanings. We talk at great length about universal basic income and VAT. He actually thinks that a UBI is inevitable and he's full on for Yang.

Life is funny.
