Does the Republican Senate really actually want a trial?

Strikes me that the real key is how much rock solid proof we can get that he withheld aid unless they came up with dirt. Say we get 5 people that can assert that. They can get 5 people who can/will refute (bullshit), they can probably get 20 people. This will be a wash or worse? Nothing in writing or on tape, I suppose.

Otherwise, we impeach without mentioning quid pro quo....by the mere fact what he did and did again w/ Ghina today - is a crime, right?

Lawrence Tribe making more sense. Months and months ago he said for the House to come up with articles, vote and find him guilty and NOT refer to Senate. Include every last single solitary misdeed. Boom, done - Move on to election protection 2020.

Just brainstorming here ....

to SC (exec privilege blah blah)where trump has his new two buddies. doubt we will ever see it.

The most interesting thing tonight, to me, was someone who said that in private - trump is not outlandish like he is in public. He is definitely speaking to his base with outrage. like he's thinking way ahead...convince the base and if he gets impeached - so what - he's got this mass of adorers. He will play victim until he dies and have this team adoring him.

They dont want to be in a position to vote to exonerate him. The public opinion is now largely for kicking Trump out.

I can't imagine what a hard place they are in. Poor them LOL. Despite knowing the guy's poison, they have bought into Trump shenanigans. And defended him every step. To appease their own constituency. So, now what? Evidently whatever trump has done is not enough. They are looking at polls just like we did to finally say impeach. As long as their base doesn't think anything bad has happened, they are in.

I don't know if it is? Does it say the Congress "shall" pass the Articles of Impeachment to the Senate?

Whether or not it goes to the Senate, I suppose they could debate and vote on each Article before it goes to the Senate? The Senate would be inclined to respond to each charge, one might think?

Then the Republicans would vote to acquit?

I suppose that would be the best we could expect?
