This is simple.
Its not about the whistleblower or the complaint.
Its not about Democrats. Or me.
Its about a damning call in which the President pressured a foreign power to investigate a political rival, harming national security.
Its about our democracy.

(10,903 posts)He asked foreign governments to interfere in our elections.
Just asking is illegal because it hurts national security.
That's all people need to know.

(47,517 posts)He tends to be very precise and economical with his words, possibly from his many years as a prosecutor. When he is done speaking, you usually know exactly what he meant.
BumRushDaShow
(129,149 posts)is that deep "calm" that he exudes. He doesn't have to flail around and turn red and yell. That's what makes him almost appear more dangerous to anyone in his sights because that underscores that he really is serious.

(47,517 posts)After listening to him, I tend to feel rather calm and reassured, but you're right, that same demeanor would be unnerving to anyone who is a target.
This is a really good man, who brings intelligence and competence to congress. There is no showboating or political-speak. What you see is what you get. We need more like him.

(47,517 posts)and went on a rather righteous rant during a hearing? He still was clam and measured, but you knew he was pissed. He's kind of like "The Father Knows Best" of the House. He may not raise his voice, but you know when he's mad.
BumRushDaShow
(129,149 posts)It's like he can kinda "rear up", resposition himself, and give someone a glare to show his irritation when he has had enough. It's like some teachers who have the ability to walk into a classroom and command attention without saying a word, by just giving the kids in the room a certain look.
PatSeg
(47,517 posts)They command respect and are usually very effective. I remember wishing I could pull that off with my kids, but apparently I just didn't have whatever it was that achieves such results. I always wanted to do the "look" and have them halt whatever they were doing and pay attention. Ha, ha, evidently not in this lifetime!

(47,517 posts)I tried it a few times, but I think they just thought it was hilarious. If I really needed their attention, I had to do a "crazy losing her mind" mom thing, but the results were very temporary and I ended up exhausted!

(9,670 posts)But the MAGATs hate liberals so they won't allow themselves to know that.
They would cheer on Armageddon if Tucker Carlson told them that liberals would die, neverminding the fact that their ugly red hats would be incinerated at the same time.
