Kroger just announced they are laying off hundreds of workers. Walmart just sold our local Walmart, are closing stores, going to smaller ones. Manufacturing is way down, laying off.

Retail stores closing, jC Penney closing 140 stores. Job creation down DOW down. Deficit over a trillion this year.

The product is very subject to the economy. In the recent past he was getting 10+ hours a week OT, now he’s down to a 40 hr week. Yes, things are slowing down.

that's ridiculous. how would i have numbers?
if i had evidence, i would have posted it. it's a discussion board, so i thought it was smelly in light of the manufacturing report the other day that we were at a 10 year low.
so i posed the perfectly reasonable question.

You did pose it as a speculative question and didn't state your opinion as a fact. That was clear.

Curiosity is good and if anybody wants to present more information, that's fine, too.

Thanks! Question everything!

this being quite the brain trust, i thought someone might have some input.

suit yourself, but this corruption machine is the likes of which we have never seen. and all he has on his side is the economy.
a recession is under way. but the numbers are still afloat.
that doesnt make sense to me.

No credible economist says we are in one. None. Anecdotal comments by posters on a political discussion board don't make a recession.

It’s not a good thing at all. Specially when we are specializing in McJobs and systemic oppression is forcing people to work and they still can’t afford to live.

Never saw a report written like this. Been reading these reports for decades now, they always simply state the situation until now. Never heard them brag about rates like this before. Trump is influencing that department, no doubt. I don’t think the numbers are getting cooked (yet.) But the language in it is very odd. Might as well say, “this is the bigltiest best, believe me, you haven’t seen a jobs report like this one.”

When the numbers come out. Yes the Labor Department under Clinton, Bush, and Obama all bragged whenever numbers would allow them. They are always run by political appointees who want to make their administration look good. It is natural.

Which indicates the formula used to project them are over estimating start ups and under estimating shut downs. As the real numbers come in, they've been consistently down. There's no reason to believe todays numbers won't be revised down in a few months. That's the trend.

the unemployment numbers dropped a lot under Obama. They continued to drop under Trump, but not as quickly.

Jobs have been created under Trump, but not nearly at the level that Obama created them over his last 3-5 years.

And unemployment that low SHOULD be putting a lot more pressure on wages to rise. And we aren’t seeing that

And mfg numbers hit their lowest point since the recession

How much house cleaning went on at BLS and were algorithms modified?
