If a murderer was caught next to the victim with weapon in hand ..

and he emphatically confessed to that murder right in front of witnessing attorneys, wouldn't that pretty much solidify his guilt, even if he had the very best of attorneys? The prosecuting attorneys wouldn't be saying, What now? or How do we approach this new information? HE CONFESSED!!! What am I missing?
