He is a laughing stock. Every national leader on the planet must almost fall down in laughter when seeing him making ludicrous claims and demands. Worse, he is turning the United States into a laughing stock of a nation.
Today, he called on China, of all nations, to "investigate the Bidens." Meanwhile, he is conducting a trade war against China. Why would Xi or any other national leader take him seriously? The answer is that they won't and don't take him seriously. His belligerent transparency and shallowness are on daily display right now.
It would be comical if it were not so tragic. No national leader is going to be willing to join in a discussion with a madman. To do so would be foolish and dangerous. Trump turns on his heel and attacks anyone who doesn't acquiesce to whatever insane demands he makes. The only possible response to Trump is to ignore his rants.
The problem is that Trump is also the President of the most powerful nation on the planet in some areas. As a President, he is so volatile and irrational that it's impossible to figure out what response will not set him off once again.
There is only one solution to this: Impeach and remove Trump before he leads us into a global conflict to satisfy his hatred and lust for power.

(15,154 posts)For Senate Republicans. Can Mitch see a path forward that includes removing Trump? We shall see. Hopefully not from under a mushroom cloud.

(2,061 posts)They know the cornerstone of any negotiation right now is to simply give the appearance that Trump "won." That is a very powerful weapon when negotiating.

(146,331 posts)We want to believe that our President has good intentions. If that's not true, we often still believe it to be true. In other nations and cultures, history is often mistaken for future reality. It's the confirmation cognitive bias at work. Trump defies all of that, and has no good intentions, except where they benefit Trump..

(13,903 posts)because he is acting like a tyrant and that is exactly what some of the heads of state are. He is one of them, perhaps this is not as off putting to them as we would hope. Worse, they see him as someone who can be used.

(129,498 posts)As a "symbol", he represents a metaphor for a certain societal mindset. Thus he has shed any expectation to conform to reality because he is no longer "real"... And he has successfully been able to convince his followers to embrace this role that makes him beyond human - a literal fantasy that embodies all of their pent-up hopes and dreams.
This role however, is as a super villain - one who has ditched the "honor system" expected for our system of government, and I really do think that the collective authoritative body is literally trying to grasp how to handle such an unprecedented turn of events and attempt to utilize what tools they can find from past history, to apply to handling him.
I suppose strategies used for handing mob bosses might be helpful but in this case, because Congress is not a "criminal" law enforcement body, their options are limited from that standpoint. Hate to say but they may have to "break some eggs" to get the job done and it's a matter of finding the best way and best one able to do that.
