Pontius Pilate Pence

He’s busy washing his hands of the political PR bloodbath that is the Ukraine scandal.

Let’s remember who insisted that Trump put Pence on the ticket as his VP. Does anyone really believe that Manafort would have promoted anyone for that position who couldn’t be counted on to get his own hands dirty when called upon to do so?

Does anyone really believe that Manafort would have jeopardized his own ass by putting an honest, by-the-book, straight-shooter in a position where he would eventually be privy to Manafort’s own crimes and feel compelled to denounce them?

Given all of the obvious corruption participated in by Trump’s campaign team, does anyone really believe that Pence hadn’t been fully vetted and accepted as someone who would go-along-to-get-along, look the other way, and participate himself when told to?

Does anyone really believe that a truly walk-the-walk Christian would – after listening to Trump’s lies and knowing his history as a thief, an adulterer, a sexual pervert, and a lying con-man – say, “This is a man that I, as a devout Christian, want to be associated with.”

Pence is a Christian in the same way that Trump is “pResident” – both are as blatantly illegitimate as they are guilty of crimes against the nation.

The Republicans are already trying to shield Pence from the stench of corruption. But nonetheless, the man stinks – dare I say it? – to high heaven.

Trump, Pence, Pompeo, Barr now even Rick Perry all of them complicit. This is beyond politics. Dig deep enough you will probably find McConnell.

in the Russia investigations since his hands aren't clean with that either. I heard that before the nomination Pence was just about broke so that means a lot right there.

rather than anything like a true christian. But .. I think you have to also factor in that the christian right has been enormously well served (and well pleased!) by Trump and his administration.

He has been trying to stay out of the limelight and to fly under the radar, but at the end of the day, he’s just as guilty as his boss.

Thankfully, he’s so lacking in charisma that even if he gets put into the presidency after Trump’s impeachment, he’s not likely to actually win the election next fall.

He doesn't bat an eye. Doesn't speak up. Doesn't comment to his aides or anyone of his discomfort of using taxpayer money as leverage for fabricated dirt on the Bidens.

Of course, why would he? It's common knowledge, that's why not. Otherwise, if he was squeaky clean, he would have come out like Superman and turned people in. But no. Pence isn't a Superman, he's bankrupt and needs this gig to pay of debt.

Or he's a pathological liar and a crook.

Really has painted himself into a corner.
If he is NOT aware of how he was being used, he IS too dumb to be in any position of power/service/responsibility.

AND,

If he IS aware of how he is being used, well, that's another strike against his right to be in a position of power/service/responsibility.

Adding to all of that, really, how can a "Christian" be willing to work with such a shit-bag who breaks SO many of the "commandments" on a daily basis?

Nah, he's scum!

He was told the equivalent of, "If we get in, we can get away with anything, and there will be nothing they can do about it."

Almost. In 2016, even if the Republican elite (which did NOT include Trump) knew the fix was in for their "surprise upset victory," and they had their plans for destruction all laid out, they still did not act hastily enough on them to keep the House of Representatives in their hands. That is like robbing a bank and forgetting the getaway car. Pence participated in the robbery, but had faith someone else would take care of the getaway car.

In the immortal words of their Energy Secretary, "oops."
