Trump said during a press conference at the White House, I think its a scandal he knew before. I go a step further, I think he probably helped write it. Thats what the word is. And I think its I give a lot of respect for the New York Times for putting it out. Just happened as Im walking up here they handed it to me. And I said to Mike, I said, whoa. Thats something. Thats big stuff. Thats a big story. He knew long before and he helped write it, too. Its a scam. Its a scam.
CNN reported the facts:
An attorney representing the intelligence whistleblower told CNN that no one from House Intelligence Committee helped his client write the complaint The whistleblowers attorney, Mark Zaid, was asked by CNN if Schiff or the Intel Committee helped with the complaint in any way, his response: Absolutely not.
This is one of the fastest deaths for a Trump conspiracy theory in a long time. - PolitiusUSA
In case there was ever any doubt. We know it, but some undecideds might not.

(82,849 posts)Trump will keep repeating it as if it's true, and Fox will echo the lie 24-7. The rest of the media will have no choice but to air the lie, "The President said again today . . ." and even if they say, "But it's not true," they'll hurt their own reporting by repeating the lie. Sooner rather than later, someone will ask a prominent politician about the lie and the zombie lie is reanimated and stalks the news cycle for another day or two. Depending on the reception, the zombie lie will go into hibernation for a few weeks and emerge again to bedevil the discourse; or it will pass into the received wisdom and narrative as an unsubstantiated claim that hasn't really/truly/finally been debunked.

(15,751 posts)Breaking news at 4:00 was trump lashing out at fake investigation, Schiff, Pelosi, bad IG, all the usual suspects. With supporting chyrons, trump lashes out . . .
After several minutes of this, Tapper pointedly remarks on one issue, trump had no 'supporting evidence' for his claim. A panel soon pointed out defects in trump's various claims. Mild chyron support for that.
Hardly any coverage of Pelosi-Schiff statements, some of which were new and very quotable. Minimal video time for the duo.
After a half hour of this I realized that CNN verbally came out more against trump lies, not much 'both-sidism'. - but the chyron and video optics, probably favored trump. [The network defense, not hard to guess, would be that the President is the biggest news].
However, just looking at the chyrons, which is what I suspect a lot of people do, [the channel just on all day, CNN appears in some office/gymrestaurant, etc., setting that people see bits of - the CHYRONS ARE IMPORTANT!
