From Scott Stedman re IG urgent meeting

8h
BREAKING EXCLUSIVE: I’m told that Pompeo’s office in recent days asked State Department HR/IG if they could “discipline” officers for “failure to follow direction” if they cooperate with Congress.

This, I’m told, is PART of the IG’s urgent request to Congress.

There is written documentation.

State Department staffers were truly shocked by the directive, which the IG denied. It appears that Pompeo is threatening his officers if they comply with Congressional inquiries.

The IG and HR teams wouldn’t go along with Pompeo’s ask.

The IG for State was appointed by Obama. Not sure about the HR people but the IG and HR are in lockstep against Pompeo’s ask.

I’m told that
@OversightDems
received a report on this from a government employee in the last hour.

1. Maybe. The asking-for-credit part is a little weird though. :p

Either someone on MSNBC or someone here at DU mentioned how Pompeo was reportedly trying to determine if he could discipline any officers who comply with the inquiry.

I don't think this Stedman fella is the originator of that bit of news.

Rough transcript from Rep. Raskin on CNN.

Raskin about Urgent meeting: It appears to be in response to the letter Pompeo sent to congress. Pompeo intimates some kind of protective blanket he can draw down over the documents congress are requesting. He appears to think he can stop the witnesses to testify.

I could only find it on Facebook, sorry.
