This is an emergency briefing. Its classified. Trump and Pompeo had no idea it was coming.
Pelosi has a presser at 10:45 am tomorrow.
Its not a coincidence.
AAAANND Trump is tweeting less than an hour ago that this is a COUP! (Cant believe he spelled it right)

Top officials in the State Department bureau that deals with international institutions engaged in disrespectful and hostile treatment of staffers, including harassing some over suspicions that they were disloyal due to their suspected political views, a federal watchdog says.
At least one top career employee was forced out of her position for inappropriate reasons, while others found themselves stripped of their duties because of their superiors political biases, according to the watchdog.
The findings were contained in a report published Thursday by the State Department inspector generals office. The report, obtained in advance by POLITICO, is the first of two from the inspector general that explores allegations that President Donald Trumps political appointees retaliated against career State Department employees. The second report is still being drafted.

Soon after being appointed to a senior position in the Bureau of International Organization Affairs it was alleged that Stull was creating lists of those perceived as loyal or disloyal to the President.[12] This included reviewing employees social media accounts for hints about their political and social positions.[13] She would personally confront those who she believed to be disloyal and called State Department employees 'Obama holdovers,' 'traitors,' and disloyal, to their faces.[6] She was accused of making lists of State Department employees suspected of potential disloyalty to President Trump, as well as private U. S. citizens working for the United Nations and other international organizations.[14] Reporting on these incidents raised the attention of the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.[15] The August 2019 IG report did not contain any information confirming or denying the existence of a loyalty list.[

(81,322 posts)Somebody at MSNBC had a spelling problem, too. They ran a graphic with the headline "State Dept. IG Breifing on Capitol Hill"... that detailed "...and 'urgent request' to brie committee staff about documents related to the State Department and Ukraine, multiple Congressional sources tell NBC News." "Breifing."
The headline on the next graphic spelled "Briefing" as it should properly be spelled.
I'd include a photo, but it involves too many technical complications for a Luddite like me.
I'm not really new but thanks for the welcome.
MSNBC doesn't usually make spelling mistakes, none that I've noticed anyway. I know they seemed eager to get this story out so maybe they were too rushed to spell check.

(6,139 posts)or gop replacing trump with somebody else and wash him off like lice (USA has very short memory for anything political). On one hand I want them to stick with trump so he can take the entire evil political party to hell with him, on the other hand, the longer he is supported the more dangerous it is for the entire world.

(12,712 posts)That may be what we are actually trying to nip in the bud, actually: A slow-motion, Reality TV-style, bloodless coup.
Given enough time, certain circumstances could give him more leverage to accomplish that, too, so it is not too farfetched all things considered. There are many indications that might support that possibility.
He often accuses people of what he does, that's one indicator, among many.
