Trump is the first modern president to leap from no govt office to presidency

Even Ronald Reagan held a lower level office. Trump has not even held local office such as council person.

We are seeing the result... unchecked lawlessness.

Trump was propped before the camera to say "your fired" once a show. He wasn't the type of game show host that had to be
quick and nimble and manage the contestants for 30 minutes. He was a prop.

but he served as Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force in Europe during WWII, which I guess counts as a government office.

he was a liar and a cheat - lies got him into the white house (Obama birther thing, lying about how much he inherited to start his businesses). why shouldn't he keep in lying while in the WH?

If we can learn only one thing from this debacle, it's that the presidency is not an entry level job.

He was Secretary of Commerce (Harding and Coolidge) and Director of US Food Administration (Wilson)

There has been much made that Hoover wasn't a politician and was a "businessman" which was the reason for his failed policies. Hoover supported failed free market and private solutions for the economy, but he had government experience.

I can't think of anyone less qualified than Trump since the Civil War.

OK: I scrolled through Wikipedia and Trump is the least qualified to hold office. William Henry Harrison was the least qualified, (served for a year as Ambassador to Colombia) but died of typhoid after a month in office.

Eisenhower and Grant had never been elected, but served in the military for years.

And interestingly enough, I even looked that up a couple days ago to confirm too!

He has never worked in government, in any capacity - and the few (modern) Presidents who had not been in previous elective government office (federal/state/local), they served in the military (e.g., Eisenhower).
