When I was just 14 years old, I impulsively kissed a girl I knew.

She responded by saying, "Ewww! Why did you do that?" I apologized and my apology was accepted. That was the last time I kissed anyone without ascertaining whether a kiss was wanted. I had behaved rudely, but I learned from it.

Everyone makes mistakes. When we do, we can apologize and learn from the experience. If we don't, then making that mistake again is a sign of a lack of caring about the other person involved. That doesn't just apply to intimacies, but to everything we do. Things said; things offered; things taken.

the democratic party won't nominate you because you made an unwanted sexual advance.

the republican party won't nominate you because you apologized.

I thought it would be interesting to do, and it was. I never thought I'd get elected, and I didn't. But it was an interesting thing to do. That was enough of actively entering politics as a candidate, though. Since then, I've preferred to support others in their election campaigns.

As for that impulsive kiss, a couple of years later, the same girl and I had a relationship for a couple of years. I was just premature the first time, I guess.

This is all far out of control in our current culture and unfortunately it is our fellow Dems who are leading much of it.

I really don't care what someone did 5 or 10 years ago...what type of person are they now? Are they better or worse for it??? Are they still doing it??? All of these things are much more important than us all trying to feel better about ourselves by teaching them a lesson and firing them from a completely unrelated job at a different time in their life.

Hang in there MineralMan, I'll stand by your side through the backlash
