(38,002 posts)There's a good Democrat that's looking to run against him but poor thing hasn't much of a chance of winning. Meaning, there'll be some GOP old boys that will swoop in with a replacement candidate. I just hope those bastards, Empower Texans, don't bankroll some lunatic. They tried that around here last election. Thankfully, it didn't work.

(14,731 posts)It's also possible that a substantial portion of the rock-ribbed Republican base has gotten sick and tired of the incredible corruption of their party. I for one am dedicated to letting them know all about it for the next 13 months. I'm always eager for amazing candidates, but running a candidate who's merely adequate will be good enough for Republicans to have to spend some time and money defending a safe seat. And that's an expenditure of finite resources that they won't have to spend in other, competitive races.
