a house of cards can stay up for a surprisingly long time -- then collapse in the blink of an eye

the transcript of nixon's "smoking gun" tape was release on august 5, 1974, and he announced his resignation a scant 3 days later.

i'm not predicting donnie will be gone by the end of the week, but it's starting to look like his support may be collapsing.

if it does, things will move very quickly.

hold on to your hats!

i think that's the key. if they can vote against him privately, they'll do it. they just don't want to be seen doing it, and certainly not alone.

but now that people see that, he's really vulnerable. he's kept republicans supporting him because he's made it seem like he's going to survive no matter what. but if republicans can look around and see that other republicans would be happy to be rid of him, then that makes all of them more comfortable opposing him.

if it happens, it could happen very quickly.
