If push comes to shove, Moscow Mitch and the Republicans in the Senate will save their own asses and turn on Trump. That is just a fact of life in politics. It will take a lot for them to get there, however it is not impossible.

They're not going to vote to convict Trump unless their constituents bail on him first and certainly not while his support is ~85% with Republican voters. If he tanks there, then we might see some movement.

They’d have to run actual campaigns (only 50 or so seats are ever really up for grabs) maybe even two.
