Former Nixon Counsel John Dean says impeachment should include Pompeo, Barr, & others

John Dean
@JohnWDean

Impeachment must include AG Barr for coverups and SecState Pompeo re Ukraine — along with President Trump. Others as their involvement becomes apparent. This is beyond a one man show!

They didn’t get a pardon. John Dean himself was convicted.

Remember Gordon Liddy? He was one of them.

They were all convicted for only a couple of years, but it changed their lives.

I want to think there is Flash, Blitzkrieg, impeachment, but it is initially a fact finding, and will continue for awhile. The case must be made plainly, clearly to place it before the American people. And there are unknowns. If a Senator were part of the case, would he/she still have a vote in the Senate trial? There is some reason they all still carry Trump's water.

Impeachment can only remove him from office, "but the party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to indictment, trial, judgment and punishment, according to law."

I'm betting he's broken a few while covering for Needy Amin.

They have to convict. Then he's removed from office. Impeachment verifies the evidence and sends the issue to the Senate for a trial. If convicted, Trumpy will be removed from office.

But all of this is strong speculation. Trumpy will refuse to be defeated. He will ignore impeachment and he will ignore conviction from the Senate. As of today, he is still dictator.

Impeachment is not instantaneous. The House will have its hands full for a while just formalizing the high crimes and misdemeanors of the Orange Twitler. Barr, Pompeo, Maguire, and even, possibly, Moscow Mitch will have to wait their turns. (The latter is the least likely, but possible, depending on what the investigations turn up).

By that I mean, Trump couldn't come out and just whine about himself,as per usual. His cult followers couldn't interpret this is Democrats just going after one man, their Dear Leader. By expanding the impeachment, Democrats would be proving to them, and to all Republicans, Independents, that its not just a vindictive assault on Trump himself.

Trump loves a chaotic, carnivalistic, circus, and that's what we'd have with a broader impeachment. Removing Trump from office is more important than impeaching everyone complicit in the crime. Every one of them can be charged with crimes in state and federal courts, separately from an impeachment decision by the House and Senate. Remove Trump from office, and the path to indictment of his underlings and puppeteers will be cleared.
