Who's Laughing Now?

We’ve been hearing from Trump & Co that the whistle-blower’s complaint is such a nothing-burger, those who have seen it have laughed at it.

Of course, the obvious question has been that if it’s so devoid of substance, so easily dismissed as trivial, so downright laughable on its face, why are the Republicans so blatantly flaunting the law in order to keep it under wraps? Surely the GOP knows that we Democrats have a sense of humour – we couldn’t have survived the past three years without it. So why not let us in on the joke?

Needless to say, the lengths to which the GOP have gone to protect their “pResident” – including lying, covering for him, perjuring themselves, and breaking the law – have been, in and of themselves, staggering in their depth of depravity and breath-taking in their breadth of corruption. And yes, at times laughable in their incredulity.

But given Trump’s stupidity, his inability to keep his lies straight, and his arrogant belief that he is untouchable, all of the lies, the cover-ups, and law-breaking on the part of his party have now gone for naught. While the GOP spokes-whores are busy on the TV machine insisting that Trump didn’t do what the Democrats are accusing him of – i.e. soliciting the leader of a foreign nation to ‘dig up dirt’ on a political rival – The Dotard has been busy running his mouth admitting that he did exactly that, while trying to couch it as being his right because he is above the law.

We’ve seen this comedy act before – and while it’s not funny for the country, it is certainly laugh-inducing on so many levels: the outraged denials of things that proved to be true, the insistence that what we never saw and heard what we have clearly seen and heard, the court jesters like Guiliani publicly melting down while trying to deny facts that were already as evident as they are damning.

Watching the inept spokes-whores on TV tonight, it seems the tack the Republicans are now taking is that the current revelations will simply “go away” if they wait out another news cycle or two. Scott Jennings said as much on CNN tonight, insisting that this has been the pattern, that the outrage over Mueller’s revelations, Kavanaugh’s appointment, the Stormy Daniels fiasco, etc., have all faded away, and this latest story will be no different. (Of course, none of those issues have actually gone away – but Jennings, like other Trump-humpers, have their heads so far up their “pResident’s” ass, they’re not really up on current affairs.)

He who laughs last laughs best – and despite putting a happy-face on this latest disaster, the Republicans are oh-so-apparently shitting their collective underwear. In fact, they’re looking like toddlers who, despite sitting on a pile of crap, keep smiling through their own self-induced stink, in hopes the stench isn’t as noticeable as it actually is.

I’m not saying that the Fat Lady has sung. But she’s bellowing from backstage right now, and even the most devoted GOPers can’t help but hear the song she’s about to sing.

Colossal Cave Adventure (also known as ADVENT, Colossal Cave, or Adventure) is a text adventure game, developed between 1975-1977, by Will Crowther for the PDP-10 mainframe. The game was expanded upon in 1977, with help from Don Woods, and other programmers created variations on the game and ports to other systems in the following years.

In the game, the player controls a character through simple text commands to explore a cave rumored to be filled with wealth. Players earn predetermined points for acquiring treasure and escaping the cave alive, with the goal to earn the maximum number of points offered. The concept bore out from Crowther's background as a caving enthusiast, with the game's cave structured loosely around the Mammoth Cave system in Kentucky.

I tried to post a picture of a system map but it didn't work.

The entire system totals 425+ mapped miles currently.

That long, hard fight you mentioned -- all the principals will try to conceal their wrongdoings and deflect blame elsewhere.

It'll be like the old text-based computer games. You find a piece of something here, that you'll need later on, if you can just get past the current obstacle in your path.

The song is coming. It ain't pretty for the GOP, and for Trump it will be a very bad song.
How do I know about this particular song?..3 reasons stated below

A. Trump was a crook..
B. Trump thinks like a crook.
C. Trump is a crook.

I'm pessimistic that anything will actually come of this. Sad to say but we are up shit's creek and Trump has stolen the paddle.

Pelosi is still hemming and hawing. Time to get real ... I've seen the talk. Let's get some action. This has been a clear and present threat to our country for almost 3 years now. The time to act was 3 years ago.

I'm just so damn sick of this and though I was young and just becoming politically aware during Watergate, this one is orders of magnitude worse yet the Republicans, if anything, appear even more dug in.

I desperately hope you are right but I'm old enough not to do "hope" politics anymore. We the people need to have our sights firmly on the 2020 elections because we need to remove these traitors from our government.

YOU ARE TOTALLY CORRECT.. IN THE END HE DIDN'T, AND NEITHER WILL TRUMP

(and I remember thinking about Watergate, that he will get away with that too. I thought that for much of the story, but when it was shown that there were recordings of what was said, my thoughts began to change)

This one is a lot more simple. Trump can claim what he wants. He has already admitted his crime. He did talk to Ukraine officials about Biden and his son. He admitted he broke the law!

Those of us who remember Nixon, recall that he too was the definition of arrogance. But in the end, he was loosing it. He was walking around the White House talking to the walls. And Trump is loosing it too. I think he knows deep down that he cannot get away with this one.

Lock him up.

17. Republicans might have had some kind of honor in those days

Sep 2019

They no longer have any, they will stand by Trump no matter what, to save their own asses. They have proven that time and time again. So I don't count on republicans to ever do the right thing now. With Republicans it has become "party before country" 24/7. How many times have we heard since the Mueller Report: " This will take Trump out" or "That will take Trump out"? How many times have we heard "if they don't answer a subpoena..this will happen or that will happen". And nothing happens. How many times have we heard: "they are going to get his income tax!" And that never happens either. The powers that be always seem to be in control, and Trump has a way out of everything.

How foolish would it be, if House Democrats, now, decide to take a vote, and not all of them are on board? Then what? There will be more delay, and nothing accomplished, and more frustration. I understand how Majority Leader Pelosi feels, she is worried an impeachment could cause a backlash in 2020, that it might cause us to lose newly gained House seats in republican states. That we might be able to gain Senate Seats in republican States, but won't if voters in those states feel we went ahead and impeached their president, and if enough voters feel that way, it could cost us the presidential election. She may well be right, then we would be worse off than before. We know the Senate will never impeach Trump. So far, nothing has worked against Trump. If there was something definite we could get Trump on, but... it always seems his supporters feel he can do no wrong, republicans in congress will never cross him, and with having "his" DOJ is in his back pocket, it doesn't seem likely.

Hate to be so pessimistic, but truly, the only way I see getting rid of Trump, is to beat him in November 2020, because I don't think anything else is going to bring him down. The thought having to go 1 more year of this guy before the 2020 election makes me sick, but the thought of 4 more years of this guy, is unbearable. I'm so worried.

It is likely that election day, 2020 will be when TrumPutin gets removed from office. That is not a good argument or excuse for avoiding impeachment proceedings, now.

The Judiciary Committee has already been working on it. Now, more Representatives are in favor of the impeachment inquiry. It's no longer one little group within the House. This will cause more voters to try to find out why. Each revelation after this will reach more people. Trump and GOP transgressions that have slipped through previous news cycles because of their Gish gallop of outrage can be re-scrutinized with more public eyeballs on them.

Voters may have more facts than fakes by the time November, 2020 rolls around.

Desperation has a definite feel, a stink to it and we can smell rising wafts of it.

If he’s not done in by this then we might as well get used to the idea that we live at the pleasure of a dictator.

My exact thoughts. He is the TRUE "Teflon Don" thus far.

I'll admit that this does feel different, But I am afraid to hope; I thought the same thing about the Mueller Report. If there isn't enough evidence to produce a major change in perception with their constituencies, the necessary Republican support for this will never materialize. And this will fizzle just like the Mueller Report.

It will be a body blow for 2020.

And, I agree; we'll then see what living in a murdered republic feels like.
