The 71st Primetime Emmy Awards will honor the best in U.S. prime time television programming from June 1, 2018 until May 31, 2019, as chosen by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The ceremony will be held on September 22, 2019, at the Microsoft Theater in Downtown Los Angeles, California, and will be broadcast in the U.S. by Fox; it was preceded by the 71st Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards on September 14 and 15.[1]
The show will not have a host for the fourth time in its history, following the telecasts in 2003 (when the awards show also aired on Fox), 1998 (on NBC), and 1975 (on CBS).[2]

(25,183 posts)when broadcast channel shows were losing out (even nomination-wise) to stuff that's only on a paid-cable or subscription service. I didn't leave the Emmys, they left me.

(42,766 posts)I don't waste my time with network TV any more. Not when an hour
long program is less than forty minutes of actual entertainment.

(25,183 posts)news and sports. Seven years with an antenna-only trained me to live without most of what is on TV. Now that I'm in SC, we have a cable package, but only because it is so very cheap ($41.00 a month) and that includes cable Internet. Still, other than an old Frazier re-run on the Hallmark Channel, I stick to news and sports.
