#BREAKING Trump says no need for China trade deal before 2020 election
From the AFP News Agency.
Now the Dow is down 114 points. It's a straight drop. I'd post the chart if I knew how.

(25,183 posts)where much of the Dow Jones is built on making cheap crap in China, and Americans are only good for buying stuff, then, yeah, this is going to happen.

(19,067 posts)China will make Trump beg for a deal so he can get re-elected. He will give them the farm.
China will get a better deal from Trump than any Democratic President because he's so desperate.
Trump and his team has no understanding of the Chinese way of negotiations. Trust and strong personal relationships are of the utmost importance although China is also very pragmatic. At some point they'll just write Trump off and then actively work to make sure they have a sane US President to negotiate with next year.
Best case scenario for Trump is he signs one of the worst trade deals in history with China, a deal that will give them everything and make him look with a magnifying glass to find 1 thing he can brag about. Worst case scenario is China decides they are going to tank the World economy to get rid of Trump.
China canceled a Mid west farm tour, this led to the drop as much as Orange Shitstain's statement.

(1,236 posts)These guys make money regardless of which direction it goes. Screw investors.
With a surcharge, etc, or whatever you want to call it in place there would be less of this and the money would go for education, M-for-all, etc.

(31,261 posts)The market has bounced up and down within a small range, the marketmakers and big Hedge Funds make money off that, but the average 401K holder does not. The problem is the massive downside risk at this point, and the economy is starting to tilt to the downside pretty steadily.

(1,521 posts)Remember when this yutz said trade wars are easy to win.
Hes saying this because he now knows there wont be a trade deal. Not ever.
The damage is already permanent. From an the perspective of agriculture China will not resume buying from the US when this is all over. The reason that Brazil is burning the Amazon is because Chinas market just opened for all the soybeans Brazil can grow.
His idiocy has not only severely damaged the US farm industry but is permanently damaging the world.
We may not be able to recover from this old mans stupidity.

(16,172 posts)Pretty much a win win win for China, they get access to an expanded source of food, meanwhile they get access to a large consumer base.
problem is, will the mid west farmers care or is it all mega corporate farms that are in the mid west and have the real pull due to Citizens?
Gaud, just more questions, no matter where i start.
