When the repubs controlled the House their hearings went on for months and were reported daily by

MSM.

From the Nation:

Republicans conducted endless, redundant probes of various conspiracy theories, refusing to stop when they were debunked. House Republicans conducted six investigations into Benghazi alone. In the fall of 2016, Jason Chaffetz, head of the House Oversight Committee, boasted that he had already teed up “years” of investigations against the presumptive next president, Hillary Clinton.

How the Republicans Built a Presidency Above the Law for Donald Trump

Why is it that we cannot get the coverage they did?

I read it here all the time, "we will educate the public."

That is pretty elitist thinking in my opinion. As if we don't need education but the public does.

The Mueller report was going to be the end of trump because finally the public will be educated about trump's lawlessness.

The Democrats taking over the House will be the end of trump because we can investigate and we hold subpoena power.

Again from the Nation:

The nature of the legal process itself helps Trump delay reckonings even when he has no case. The law is the ultimate example of “both sides–ism”; it prides itself in putting even dumb and ridiculous arguments on equal footing with factual and rational analysis. It’s not enough to know something to be true; the law makes you prove it. It gives the other side every opportunity to argue their fanciful points. It’s the proverbial worst system, except for all the others.

In the same way a cancer takes advantage of the cell’s own reproductive machinery to infect the system, Trump is using the courts’ respect for the rule of law to destroy the rule of law.

How Does Donald Trump Keep Getting Away With It?
Hint: From Congress to the courts, people keep treating Trump like a “normal” president. It’s time to stop.

Now we almost have proof that trump made an illegal deal with the president of Ukraine. Some here are jumping for joy. We finally have trump by the gonads. We will get Pence too. Pelosi will be president. Ain't gonna happen.

Our enemy is our willingness to play by the rules. We respect the rule of law. We play fair. We believe in having honesty and integrity.

In the face of lawlessness by trump we use the system.

Trump has gotten away with his evil ways because he knows his adversaries will play by the rules. He puts people in powerful places who can make rules in his favor.

It is amazing that in less than 4 years trumpism has become the creed of republican party.

Every night I watch MSNBC and learn "breaking news" about another trump illegal activity. Every show is about trump! Reporting on Trump misdeeds has become the thing that is saving investigative journalism.

We need to STOP THINKING WE ARE GOING TO GET TRUMP! We will never get trump while he is in office.

We need to start thinking about how we are going to take over the government in 2020! The election is one year away.

Trump will keep us chasing after his illegality for the next year instead of preparing for the elections.

Let's talk about climate change, universal health care, affordable education, affordable housing, social justice, racism and many other things we can have an impact on only if we are in power.

Sure we should impeach trump because it is our duty, it's the right thing to do, it will tarnish trump for life, it will teach the public.

All good reasons to chase our tails. We look impotent in the face of trump's lawlessness. We hold hearings and instead of teaching people about trump we teach them that we don't know how to get trump.

The repubs created much of Hillary's negatives with the Benghazi hearings even though she stood up to them for 11 hours and in the end they had to admit they had nothing on her. They did achieve their goal though many of us thought we won.

We can not do anything like what the repubs did because of our willingness to be honest, to have integrity and play by the law. And we are right to live our lives that way.

We do not control enough of government to use our values as a weapon against lawless evil.

Stop these hearings that make us look weak. Stop let getting trump be our life's work. Impeachment though it is the right and honorable thing to do will not get trump and will hurt us in the end.

The public does not need teaching. The country has made up it's mind about trump. Conservatives love him because they are getting what they want by sleeping with the devil. We hate him because he is destroying our democracy.

The only way to get trump is by defeating him in 2020. The only way to stop putting right wing judges on the bench is to have the power to nominate judges. The only way to stop white supremacy is to celebrate our diverse electorate in victory in 2020. The only way to stop gerrymandering is to control local government.

Yes live by our values but stop trying to get trump using the system. Get him by working to turn out the largest diversified anti trump electorate in the nation's history.

Which is why the Dems should borrow the same playbook.
