What if Pelosi has stayed above the politics for the eventuality that she might be POTUS?

Looks like Pence is deep in this Ukraine mess. He went instead of Trump to that meeting with Zelensky. If Pence and Trump both go down, hello President Pelosi.

Pence is a monster of ambition, especially intense because he is so remarkably mediocre.

I think he will throw Trump under the bus, and grab the Resolute Desk with both hands, and never let go.

Section 2. Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress.

Pelosi will be president.

but more likely:
Trump gone.
Pence president long enough to nominate a VP (CF-- Gerald Ford nominating Rockefeller)
VP approved by Senate.

McConnell would do anything he could to keep Pelosi from the White House... but it sure is fun to speculate.
