Maybe it was Trump who exposed that deep asset.

Shit is on fire. Like, big fire. Like burning down the house fire. Trump at center with gas can. Has help. Involves Russia. Now it’s a race between gas, matches, and Congress. If we don’t get details and act, it all goes up in

His work is sourced and his sounding alarms is not really hair on fire, but just pulling together news reports. As much as the well informed members of DU are in current events - exponentially more aware of day to day events of this admin than the average Joe, Abramson is exponentially above the average DU’er in his collecting and culling of reports.

He (or someone close to him) is able to read source documents in Russian, Arabic and other difficult languages. He seems to get tips and angles on stories that the news reporters completely miss. Maybe Mr. Abramson goes off on a tangent once in awhile, but he's definitely getting good info from somewhere.

I do like to read his tweets but they take a bit of time and brain cells.

His following is a function of the tendency of some to suspiciously avoid those very same newspapers and look for alternative sources. I.e., Abramson's restyling of what he reads in the NYT, etc., from his New Hampshire subdivision.

Political psychologists and sociologists study these things. Abramson's one of many using the web to monetize distrust anything "establishment" by affirming that to a growing following with a strong emotional need to understand. Wanting to believe one has reliable, inside information, as well as the explanations of conspiracy theories, are ways to manage anxiety.

And these are anxious times. Mother Jones is hardly the last word on Abramson, just one of many, who should be considered.

Conspiracies happen, as we see daily in 45's administration. It's legit to report on them.

The research for my book PROOF OF CONSPIRACY suggests the President of the United States is not loyal to the United States—and that he and his family have put their interests above the safety and security of US families; the intel the House is asking for may prove this
