Rick Wilson: "Don Jr. Will run in 2024. And he'll probably win."

Forget Trump 2020, Worry About Don Jr. 2024

https://www.thedailybeast.com/forget-trump-2020-worry-about-donald-trump-jr-2024

In the era of Donald Trump, the Republican Party has become hilariously, utterly blind to the consequences of its transformation from conservative leaders to Trump cult bootlicks, toadies, and ball-washing yes-men. They whistled past the graveyard in 2018 right up to a colossal congressional and down-ballot ass-beating on Election Day, but the real future they face is almost unimaginably bad.

Donald Trump is locked in his now-tiresome rage spiral as economic, foreign policy, and moral failures of his crapulous administration mount. The endless, wearing cycle of “fail, lie, deny, ragetweet, lather, rinse, repeat” is an ugly, constant whine in our lives.

Democrats are caught up in the 2020 race for the nomination, full of passions for candidates, ideas, and issues that won’t matter in the general election next November. Trump is still in a position to win due to their usual campaign ineptitude and the lack of a superstar candidate with the talent of Barack Obama or Bill Clinton.

Seriously. Why would they be allowed ANY power for vengeance? Stomp them down. Render them penniless and powerless.

Or offer the Rosenberg remedy.

I wanted it to be Harris, but I haven't seen that in her campaign. Warren's appeal isn't her "Magnetism"; it's her intellect.

As much as I loathe President Sociopath, he has charisma - at least to the idiots who he appeals to. Junior has none of his dad's on-camera talent.

Rick Wilson's cynical analysis resonates for me. Especially this: "full of passions for candidates, ideas, and issues that won’t matter in the general election next November".

I don't understand why there's a problem with conceding that President Asshole is "charismatic".

We see through his bullshit. Stupid people don't. They literally think he's hilarious. And handsome. And charming. That's why he was on TV for years.

The messenger is irrelevant. Before his current occupation as a demented cult leader, Trump was considered a C-list joke of a celebrity. His public persona was that of a sleazy, boorish lout, so no. I wouldn't say he has charisma to most people. He became popular with racist imbeciles when he began publicly parroting all their vile beliefs.

I wouldn't say Lou Dobbs or Tucker Carlson or Sean Hannity have any sort of charisma or charm either, but they're popular with the pukes for the reason I stated.

If we're talking Republican president, we have Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, and the two Bushes in the last 50 years. Yeah, whole lot of charisma there.

Charisma, for some reason, only seems to matter when you're a Democrat.

Precisely because he brought "star power" to the stage. It doesn't work on us, but it worked on them. It was the manner with which he parroted their troglodytic white nationalist resentments - the manner of a skilled Con Artist. I remember Scott Adams telling Bill Maher it was called "pacing and leading".

If charisma didn't matter, Ted Cruz would have been the nominee.

Reagan won and governed on his Charisma, too.

And I agree that the Democrats don't have a "superstar" candidate like an Obama or Bill Clinton, but I'm not sure that will be needed in 2020. I think if Democrats follow the Tim Wise strategy of narrowing the focus of attacks on Trump to his racism & misogyny instead of the other 98 issues that we can attack him about, they should be in a good shape.

and, I think Warren is definitely developing into a very strong candidate, and others have potential.
