Axios reporter Jonathan Swan told MSNBC that Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner have discussed the possibility of replacing Vice President Mike Pence with Nikki Haley on the 2020 Republican ticket.

Said Swan: “Certainly, there have been a number of people telling people in the White House, including the president’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and daughter Ivanka Trump, that Nikki Haley would be a politically smart choice to replace Pence. So this is partly why a lot of these rumors have been circulating.”

Purpose #1) Sow continual discord in the camps around Trump & his cabinet. He likes it that way, thinks having everyone else "off-balance" and afraid helps him maintain a firmer grip on power.

Purpose #2) To try and string along/reassure women leaving the ranks in droves to stay with him because "oh well I guess he was at least considering a woman for something. "I should probably stick with him."

Purpose #3) Provide another pseudo-data point of "Look, see! Ivanka is her own woman, she's not just daddy's girl! She's her own Trump!"

I would guess 10-15% of his base is now the Alt-right crazies. They hate Haley with a passion. First, she a woman and not white. That alone would make them abandon him. And although now a Christian she openly has honored her Hindu heritage. Plus, she took down the confederate flag in South Carolina. That will never be forgiven. This group is made up of people who see trump as a vehicle to an all white society. He would lose them over this.
