13. As a former USAF OR technician (scrub) NOTHING allow you to leave a case except a relief person.

No matter what no one left an ongoing surgery without first being relieved and replaced by a suitable replacement. Surgeon(s) for surgeon(s). Anesthetist for the anesthetist. Circulating nurse for the circulating nurse. And scrub tech for scrub tech.

Then only for an extreme reason. In four years I only saw one surgeon leave and that was for a sudden illness but only when the replacement surgeon entered the room gowned, gloved and ready to step in.
