(56,582 posts)At least according to Astika Hindu traditions, samsara (literally "wandering", usually translated "reincarnation" or "metempsychosis" ) doesn't work as a reward or punishment for your karma. Donald Trump doesn't come back as a downtrodden refugee or a worm or a grub: he comes back as exactly the same thing, over and over again, until he gets it right and his atman breaks free from the trap it's in.

(54,436 posts)"until he gets it right" could mean many millenia in his case, if ever.
Oh, well, at least now we know where he plot for Groundhog Day came from.
There's a Puranic story that has Indra rebuking Shiva for something but Shiva is watching some ants crawling on the floor and laughs. Indra asks why he laughed, and Shiva says "there are 10,000 ants here, and I have been incarnated as each of them 10,000 times and heard this rebuke already."
Personally there's nothing more horrifying than the idea of a literal eternal existence of my consciousness...

(9,426 posts)in every way. Such a punchable face. The toad is cute, poor thing does not deserve to be compared with the vile ass of a pretend president. The toad likely has a superior brain, too.
