She refuses to accept invitation... in other words telling Netanyahu to GFY....
But I ask this question? Wouldn't it be in the interest of humanity and transparency if she did go...??? i mean she could really stir things up and put Israel's disgusting treatment of Palestine on display to the world.
I am only asking the question . Nothing more..

(8,311 posts)I get her rejecting the "humanitarian" gesture in solidarity with her fellow Representative who is being denied the right to go as part of a Congressional delegation. They're saying it's fine for her to go as a private citizen to see her grandmother, but not fine for two US Congress members to visit on official business.
They should allow both Congresswomen to go, and for the reasons they stated for their original visit -- which also doesn't include promoting BDS. And our President should be more upset about the insult to the United States Congress, which does (as a certain candidate pointed out) hold the power of the purse, than using this as an opportunity to attack his political enemies.
I know BDS is a hot topic for many, and discussions of it may rightly belong in the I/P forum. But it is nonviolent protest, and Israel's ban of all groups that support it has led to them even banning the Quakers from Israel. There's no question that Quakers are rather used to being criticized or considered controversial for our beliefs in pacifism going as far as they do -- but especially since they focus their boycott/divestment targets specifically on companies either profiting from settlements considered illegal or policing that is considered excessive/discriminatory, not all Israeli companies or exports... it's a little reactionary IMHO to ban them.
And reactionary to ban a Congressional delegation just because its members hold those views.

(11,999 posts)It appears that she thought her request to visit her grandmother would be rejected and would make Israel look bad. When they agreed, she did a 180 and changed her mind.
After originally being denied entry, she wrote a letter with official Congressional letterhead requesting a visit to see her grandmother and specifically stating...
" I would like to request admittance to Israel to visit my relatives and specifically my grandmother who is in her 90's and lives in Beit Ur al-Fouqa. This could be my last opportunity to see her. I will respect any restrictions and will not promote boycotts against Israel during my visit. "
After Israel agreed, she accepted the offer, and then the very next day changed her mind and stated now she wasn't going stating;
"Silencing me & treating me like a criminal is not what she wants for me. It would kill a piece of me. I have decided that visiting my grandmother under these oppressive conditions stands against everything I believe in--fighting against racism, oppression & injustice."
