I have a family member that has to use a scooter due to severe arthritis.
How would you feel if someone came up to your family member in a scooter and said,
"If you got off your lazy ass and walk around a bit..."
Sometimes this site....

I had to be in a wheel chair for a month because I couldn't walk, before I could have back surgery.
I know have 6 screws and 4 plates in my back. The looks I got from some people in public.
I was a power lifter earlier in my years, and still somewhat have the same body, except for a few extra pounds.
People were like "get up you lazy ass"...
I guess this site isn't for me when stuff like this is acceptable.

And these people on scooters probably weren't either. But their physical condition betrays some poor food choices and lack of self-care.

If you are a "few extra pounds" overweight and have needed back surgery, please consult a dietitian and get those extra pounds off! Your body will thank you.

And please stick around - this is a great place to get news, even if we don't sometimes agree with each other.

or a supporter of anyone else. The topic had veered off onto anyone-on-a-scooter.

Agree with you on food production and probably other things, as well.

But! Overweight is overweight. I need to lose weight, so I speak from experience! And it doesn't matter how you put it on - it has got to go, to save your life and your health. I am working on that for myself.

I shook my head in agreement with the OP, because of the total lack of self-awareness of, yes, the Master Race.

But other than that, we don't know what brought them to needing scooters -- we just see what is in the outside.

PS: glad to hear your mom is plugging along. I'm a few years younger and this summer my left knee that I had been ignoring forever just up and went critical. Can't talk about it.

Some of the responses I have gotten on this thread shows me that there are some uncaring people here.
Only a few, but enough to see that these responses are acceptable.

And left leaning people.

That does not necessarily mean nice all the time. People on the left can be in poor taste as anyone else. I know I have been at times. I find the post distasteful, but normally would just ignore it. Not worth fighting about. Because I know plenty of people in this shape are democrats, a few I actually know.

Plus, Trump brings out the worst in all of us. And this couple, disability aside, are proudly being dicks. That’s where our ire should be focused. That and the fact we all know the government they rail against probably bought those scooters for them.

For every OP like this you will find 10 that are kind and 20 that are bitingly funny.

Whenever it was mealtime, these rather - um -enormous middle-aged and older folks on their scooters were the absolute RUDEST people on the boat! Criminy! They’d speed up to cut in front of you on the way to the buffet, and damn near run you over. Then if you were spooning something onto your plate, they’d be beeping their horns at you to get you out of their way, sometimes at multiple spots going all the way down the buffet tables! And their plates were always overflowing with food.

But the rudeness and sense of entitlement! I’m still aghast thinking about it. At every meal EVERY DAY! Insane!

Reminded me of my dad - whose end was hastened by his failure to eat normally. He might have lasted long enough to see his grandchildren grow up if he’d taken it easy on the heavy eating. And eating all the wrong things. Toward the end, eating was the only thing that gave him any pleasure, I guess, even while it was killing him.
