(51,627 posts)make more people take action to support gun control and vote Mitch and the rest out of office. I know that the scenes in those classrooms were horrific, even for those who are experienced in police forensic work. Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words. Does America need to be woken up and not see this as "normal"? Maybe people need a slap in the face.

(34,073 posts)i know i certainly would not want to see those graphic photos but, on the other hand, it might be a real wake up call to a lot of people. a "slap in the face" as you put it
and if any pictures were to be made public i definitely think it would have to be with the consent of the parents or family

(6,831 posts)I have long believed that - as horrible as it sounds - that pictures of the carnage SHOULD be shown.
People need to be shaken out of their complacency and the only way to do that is put these bloody pictures right in their faces. By all means, put the warning up that graphic images are coming on the screen. But show it. Put it right in the faces of all Americans. Make it so that people CAN NOT LOOK AWAY.
This will also put an end to the BS that nazi gasbags like rush limbaugh and alex jones put out there that these are "crisis actors" and that these atrocities never really happened.
My niece is a survivor of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School (Parkland, FL) massacre. When SWAT came to escort the students out of their classrooms, these children had to walk past their friends and fellow students, lying in pools of blood, brains splattered on the walls, side-stepping body parts. If my (then) 15 year old niece had to be forced to look at that, then Mr. and Mrs. NRA-supporter, Mr. and Mrs. christian right wing and Mitch fucking McConnell should too.

(6,646 posts)They show pretend carnage in movies to just about anyone who will watch it. The producers cant keep enough gore on the screen to suit what the entertainment industry.
I know! Lets make people applying for a gun license watch the films. Kind and of like old times drivers ed films. Not sure even seeing it would help the sickos, but it would get the NRAs attention.

(6,916 posts)Harness that anger.
Let it wash over you.
It is the NRA and Republicans that did that; that supported it; that failed to take action after it because gun identity politics was too important for votes for their billionaire donors.
Canvass. Donate. Join Moms Demand Action. Boycott Fox. Call your reps and Senators.
Harness the anger. Take action.
