The setting has changed. It is now at an ICE detention center. The show has become decidedly more political. They are using their platform to (very effectively, in my opinion) tell stories intended to make real the "illegals" who are subject to a cruel and uncaring system. Similarly, the inmates who have been the show's ongoing mainstays face the issues that prisoners, particularly women, face. The comedy/drama has taken a decidedly dramatic turn.

(53,959 posts)This was one of the MOST depressing seasons! The second to last episode...fuck!!! When you see Figg lose it, you know shit has gone too far.

(225 posts)There were a few episodes toward the end of the season that were hard to watch. Took me a couple of sessions. The last episode brought sobs. The young mother from Columbia... Jeez. Heartbreaking.
