The official story of Donald Trumps visits to Dayton and El Paso in the wake of mass shootings is that Trump was treated like a Rock Star, with the photos and videos to prove it. But the level of bile spewing from Trump through Wednesday suggests that under the official story and the grinning photos, he was in an epic sulk-and-fume.
By one count, Trump attacked 14 different people or media organizations on Wednesday, including five Democratic presidential candidates, a senator, a member of Congress, a mayor, two news anchors, and his former biographer.
Trumps attacks on Sen. Sherrod Brown and Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley, after his visit to the hospital in Dayton, were perhaps most revealing. Trump accused Brown and Whaley of totally misrepresenting what took place inside of the hospital. Which is interesting, since they praised Trumps hospital visit, with Brown saying the victims were hurting. He was comforting. He did the right things. Melania did the right things. I mean, Im really confused. We said he was treated, like, very well. So, I dont know why theyre talking about misrepresenting.
Maybe Trump needed his followers to believe that Democrats will attack him no matter what. Maybe thats just how bad a mood he was in, that he couldnt take a compliment at face value. But its a reminder that even when Trump is grinning, hes seething.

(63,221 posts)That he cannot see the inappropriateness and self-centeredness of what he did yesterday. As long as he got people to (fake) praise him, then in his mind, what he did was wildly successful.
It doesn't even occur to him that the fact that he even went at all was wrong (because nobody wanted him there), the spirit in which he went was wrong (not to comfort, but to enhance his image), his behavior while he was there was wrong (acting like he was at a party or a rally, instead of what should have been a very mournful situation), every fucking thing about what he did, said, tweeted, acted and orchestrated was just dead wrong and thoroughly disgraceful.
But he cannot see that because everything is all about HIM all the fucking time!
