How crazy is it that the press will carry Trump's remarks live today?

...knowing what we do about his deliberate stoking of racial and ethnic division and hatred.

Knowing how he used his last rally to foment hate and unrest, why would any responsible news organization carry his remarks live? I see MSNBC has a little promotion in the corner of their screen heralding his visit to Dayton and El Paso.

The other side in this farce are millions of innocent people who will be almost certainly be targets of hate from Trump's bully, bigoted pulpit. One side is playing a dangerous game, fully aware of the consequences, the other is almost in a defensive crouch, dependent on embattled legislators and others rushing to give them voice and support to counter the threat to their lives and livelihoods from the highest office in our government.

Covering Trump's threatening behavior live and unedited is complicity in whatever the consequence. Moreover, allowing Trump to sidestep the almost daily hatred he spews from his elevated position, and covering his play acting like he's an innocent observer, is more than complicit, it's culpable.

In case things break down, they want to carry the hostilities live. The media will not, of course, say that's the reason they're covering Needy Amin's photo op, but it's the main driving force.

I am glad they don’t carry the rallies but this is actual news, and I think they should carry it. Not that it’s going to do my despair issues any good.

...Trump is so lawless at this point, so much of a dedicated, proven miscreant, that it's no longer news, it's theater, like hostage takers use to catapult the propaganda.

News would be hounding him until Congress found the will to convict him, not repeatedly standing him up and giving his farce of a presidency legitimacy.

It's news and he's the buffoon-in-chief. Of course, they'll carry his remarks live.

What's crazy is how they will act like they're unbiased much of the time with little to no condemnation.

he's the president of the United States. his public events are automatically newsworthy.

these are especially interesting because he's the closest thing we've had to an openly racist president in a long-ass time, and now he has to pay lip service to "unifying the country" that he and his supporters are doing their best to tear apart.

...under a pretext that everyone knows is false.

The destructive effect of his language isn't interesting, any more than a televised mugging, and the harm is escalating right in front of our eyes.

the real media crime comes afterwards when dozens of paid-for pundits come on various widely-watched shows to tell us what a fantastic healer and unifier our brilliant, compassionate leader has become.

Maybe corporate media executives decided that getting Dump elected would allow them to "downsize" their news teams and cover the train wreck 24/7 with just a handful of people who can't stop talking on TV.

They aren't in the "calm folks down business"

Upset people draw more viewers which draws more advertising money.

I would be beyond shocked if they ignored him.

But all news programs, MSNBC, CNN, FOX, CBNC have commercials regularly for various products.

And the manufacturers of those products pay handsomely for all the eyes on them.

It's how the entire news business is funded.
