As I am very frequently involved on facebook and to less extent DU these days. Every day I wake up, I keep seeing Republicans who had been on the fence about President Obama making statements that say, "I'm a life long Republican, I have voted for every Republican since (insert your year) but after hearing Paul Ryan's speech last night, I just can't support the party any more."
Every day I see at least seven to ten Republicans making that same statement? Is anyone else seeing friends who are Republicans making that same comment to you.
It's giving me a lot of hope that even with the voter suppression, the lies I keep hearing day in and day out, that maybe, just maybe we may be in for a 1964 style election. Am I crazy for thinking this? Talk me down guys.

(26,295 posts)And I do believe there are still some rational ones, around. With luck, more and more of these attempts at voter suppression will be overturned. Frankly, I think it should be a federal law that changes to voter regulations should have to be LEGALLY in place, a full year before the election.
Right now I can things of few things I'd love to see more than the total humiliation of the R&R team.

(3,073 posts)Most of the time I am terrified that they will win and based on the voter suppression and media bombardment, I think we have a chance but there chance is better. Some days I'm more hopeful then others but at the moment, I'm just not so sure. I do visit Nate Silver once in a while to remind myself that things are not so bleak. But I am worried.

Several friends have either gone Indie or stated that they won't vote. One has said she's voting for Pres. Obama. Because they're my friends, they obviously weren't freak right to begin with, but they were Republicans, nonetheless. They've all made pretty much the same statement, "My party has gone insane."
