There is a simple answer to the question of why these incidents keep happening.

This is how America has always been. Terroristic acts against non-whites have been perpetrated and condoned by the white populace since well before we were America. Our society pays lip service to the misdeeds of the past without truly embracing and repudiating those acts. Republican Politicians use this cudgel with astounding effectiveness to persuade their voters to vote against their own best interests because those people, and the rhetoric they espouse that we deem as racist, don’t believe that they are racist.

Why would they? Our media, including movies, TV shows, and radio/podcasts, continue to portray non-whites with the same tropes of the past. Our institutions, including police, courts, and schools, treat non-whites markedly differently with horrific consequences. As a society we blame the victims of our culture and tell those who point out America’s continued misdeeds to love it or leave it. Any protest by non-whites is suspect and a step too far, no matter how mild or nonviolent.

I live in a very rural area with very few non-whites, and many in my community feel that they are fighting not against non-whites but for their culture and the way things used to be. In their minds they believe that yesterday was an idyllic time without violence and fear and that we need to get back to how things used to be. That is why MAGA resonates with many of them, along with the confederate flag.

Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell, and the majority of Republican politicians did not create this culture, but they have knowingly continued to push these ideologies to consolidate power and gain power and riches. While they are to blame for the escalation of the current increase of domestic terroristic incidents, they are also just a symptom of a disease of which America has always suffered

And also many white people conform to fit in that bubble. I have a perfectly normal nephew who likes trump and I am just astounded. I am convinced he wants to fit into his white bubble.
