Cousin of Greg Palast's producer killed in Dayton gun massacre

Many of you know Greg Palast, the investigative journalist who has done so much to expose political corruption and election theft scandals.

While on his honeymoon in the Alps, he got word that Thomas James "Tee Jay" McNichols Jr., 25, cousin of his assistant producer Jevin Lamar was among those murdered last night in Dayton by a gunman Palast calls "racist." Six of the nine fatalities in Dayton are African-Americans, including McNichols.

Lamar was ring-bearer in Palast's wedding to his long time investigative partner Leni Badpenny and was still in Europe when word came of his cousin's slaughter.

Palast writes in an email sent to journalists, "But no place is safe from a Neo-Nazi with an assault rifle and a President who gives a wink and a nod to white supremacy."

Palast's reporting as shown in his film, "The Best Democracy Money Can Buy" ironically focused in part on racist voter purges in Ohio.

"You can’t have a racist voting system and a racist economic system without inciting racist violence," Palast contends. "What Trump and a thousand other politicians have done so well is to distract hopeless, young white men by making Black people the targets of their rage — instead of the white wealthy monsters who stole the future of Dayton and America’s other dead-end Daytons."

Jevin is also distantly related to Lola Oglesby, a new mom, gunned down in the Dayton massacre.

"This will be a sad way to return to America. In fact, we wouldn’t — if there wasn’t so much work to do," Palast says.

More on the shooter: Dayton newspapers are now reporting that he had a history of threatening to kill classmates when he was in high school. The school went so far as to warn several students that they were on his "hit list" yet apparently no meaningful intervention was done. He'd plotted revenge on teen girls who wouldn't date him and kept a "rape list", so apparently this was a rage-filled young man. Authorities have not yet concluded if the Dayton shooter was racially motivated.

But the other two mass shootings in the past couple of days clearly were -- the El Paso, Texas killer left a manifesto raging against Hispanic immigrants and the Gilroy, CA garlic festival shooter recommended people read a white supremacist book in an Instagram post shortly before he committed mass murder.

I know Greg personally, having interviewed him several times, and am deeply saddened to hear of this tragedy touching him personally so soon after losing both his parents and then marring what should have been the start of his new life with his bride. Perhaps he will focus his investigations on gun violence and white supremacist terrorists next and make some good come out of all this darkness.

When's Michelle Malkin gonna call for white boys to be interred "for the duration" of this terror war? /sarcasm

ice cream social in Wichita , KS was epic. Palast said he’s seen Republican lawmakers jump out their office windows to get away from him. Sorry to hear this.

Tee Jay McNichols, our Producer’s Cousin, Murdered in Dayton Massacre
AUGUST 4, 2019
Greg Palast

Thomas James “Tee Jay” McNichols Jr., 25, the cousin of our assistant producer Jevin Lamar, was one of the 9 people murdered Saturday in Dayton, Ohio, by a racist gunman.

Our hearts go out to Tee Jay’s family and our Jevin.

Jevin is here in the Swiss Alps with me and Leni Badpenny — he was ring-bearer at our wedding this week at her family’s chapel on Monte Laura.

Only a few hours ago, Jevin was celebrating his 25th birthday and the release of his three new hip-hop tracks for Badpenny Records.

We received the horrific call from Dayton while I was on the air on Rev. Jesse Jackson’s radio program discussing the Dayton massacre.
