Or rather not broadcast over public airwaves.

But it was s much more liberal Supreme Court that made it untenable.

The Fairness Doctrine is not coming back.

Unfortunately, it wouldn't be able to cover the Internet...and Glenn Beck doesn't seem to be doing too badly after getting kicked off Fox News.

It was immediately after Reagan scuttled the fairness doctrine that the giant RW Wurlitzer was established. The fairness doctrine was repealed in 1987 and Limbaugh, to pick a well-known example, began his national show shortly after that.
